"Standing Firm on the Promises of God" - Week 6

We have looked at a number of God’s promises throughout this series. Matthew 11:28, “Come to me all who are weary and I will give you rest” - James 4:6-7, “God gives grace to the humble… Resist the devil and he will flee from you” - 2 Corinthians 12:9, “His grace is sufficient and His power is made perfect in our weakness” - And last week, Romans 8:28, “ALL things work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose.” When put together these promises build for us quite a foundation to stand on, and these are only four of the many promises given to us in scripture!

This week we add to this foundation as we look at Philippians 4:4-7. Here God promises us something that we could spend our whole lives looking for but never even glimpse. Something many of us have spent every moment and every penny searching for, but only find ourselves further and further from it. Here, God promises us that when we truly trust in the Lord, when we are thankful to Him for what He has done and present to Him our needs in faith, He WILL give us a peace that is so complete it is beyond our ability to comprehend. If you don’t feel that peace, YOU CAN! For it has been unlocked for us through the cross of Jesus Christ.

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand, do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:4-7
